Beppie plot
"Beppie" is a portrait of a ten-year-old Amsterdam street girl living on the Achtergracht. Van der Keuken films her while she roams the streets with her friends and rings the doorbell of strangers. They are at home with nine children and they are not very well off. A visit to the De Miranda swimming pool in those days costs a quarter, but in bad weather only ten cents. At school, Beppie gets an unsatisfactory mark for her behaviour, because she is too busy and chats too much, but she participates in full when the class is chanting the math tables.
