Arif Hossein, ETV Dhaka plot
From early in the morning until late at night, 13-year-old Arif Hossein from Dhaka, Bangladesh, paints rickshaws for a few cents. He also goes to school and works with a team of young people for a popular weekly television program Mukto Khobor on ETV. The program is made by and for children. It shows things about child labor and the importance of a good education. Director Ole Tornbjerg depicts the life of the ambitious, determined Arif, who tells his own story and the harsh social conditions of children in Dhaka. Along with others, Arif will negotiate with factory directors to allow children who work in factories to go to school.
