Amandla! A Revolution In Four Part Harmony plot
This film reconstructs the history of the more than forty years of resistance against apartheid, but focuses mainly on the important role that music played in it. Various former resistance fighters and musicians, including singer Miriam Makeba and musician Hugh Masekela, tell their stories. The many freedom songs of the underground resistance originated in the streets and were promptly banned. But once they came out, they quickly spread and were a source of strength and comfort to the black community. The stories of the survivors show the inseparable connection between music and the struggle against apartheid.
