Allein die Wüste plot

September 2010. A mountain range in southern Morocco is where I pitch my tent, curious how long I can endure the solitude of the desert facing myself. Over the past two decades, I have traveled many times through a wide variety of North African desert landscapes. Some of these trips were related to filming in the footsteps of the African explorers of past centuries. Regardless of whether I made these trips with friends or with a team, every day I was driving for hours on different desert tracks by car. On such a journey, I got the desire not to spend weeks driving through the fascinating landscapes, but to stay for a longer period in one place in the desert, to observe exactly what is happening to me. Little did I know, however, that this was going to be the greatest, truest adventure of my life… Drawn, Dietrich Schubert.
