In 1942, the Jewish Helena Citron belonged to the first group of a thousand women to end up in the Auschwitz concentration camp. There, the young woman soon came into the sights of the Austrian SS officer Franz Wunsch, who fell madly in love with her. Wunsch protected her whenever possible and dragged her sister Roza away from the gates of hell, but as an SS man he also had another side. Thirty years after the Second World War, Citron – who now lived in Israel – was called as a witness in the trial against Wunsch. There the impossible is asked of her.
