A Thousand Girls like Me plot
The courage of the Afghan Khatera, in his early twenties, should not be underestimated. She was abused by her father from childhood, became pregnant with him several times, had several abortions and eventually gave birth to a daughter. On the advice of a mullah, she told her story in a television program, after which she sued her father. When the movie starts, Khatera is pregnant again. The child she carries is evidence: evidence that her father raped her. A Thousand Girls like Me follows the combative twenty-something and her mother closely, showing how little support Khatera gets from her brothers, who all along knew what was going on but didn't intervene.
