180° South plot
"Conquerors of the Useless"
180° South follows American surfer and climber Jeff Johnson and a few friends as they head south to Patagonia in southern Chile to climb Corcovado. He thus follows in the footsteps of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins who made the journey in 1968. Both are now retired entrepreneurs and conservationists: Chouinard founded outdoor clothing brand Patagonia, Tompkins The North Face. After a long boat trip with an emergency stop on Easter Island, Johnsson finally meets them in Corcovado National Park. They talk at the campfire about surfing, climbing, life, nature and the balance between them.
