The White Dove plot

Doctor Sylvester Lanyon learns from a dying friend that his late wife was cheating on him. He is so disenchanted and disappointed with the world that he cuts all ties with his father Matthew and his girlfriend Ella and then leaves for London. A year later, he learns that Ella is about to marry the rogue Roderick Usher, who obtained the consent through extortion.
