Seductive hotel worker Madeleine Maude "Molly" Louvain becomes pregnant after an affair with a wealthy playboy. Not long after the birth of her daughter, Molly has an affair with the criminal James 'Jimmy' Cook. When Jimmy kills someone, he makes Molly pay for it and she is arrested. Journalist Scott "Scotty" Cornell, who is also in love with Molly, tries to get her out.
