The film crosses genres, with well-shot scenes in a noir-esque style that lends a realistic atmosphere. The plot unfolds step by step and accurately reflects the patriarchal system of France at that time. Girardeau delivers a fine performance as a bewildered agent who still maintains his wit. And Bastien... (La tentation de Isabelle) holds her own in her role. 3.5*
