Place of Execution plot

In modern London, Catherine Heathcote is almost done with her documentary about the disappearance of Alison Carter in 1963. The case was a major blow to the community at the time and kept police officer George Bennet very busy. However, the seventy-year-old, previously always helpful Bennet, suddenly decides not to participate in the documentary anymore. But why?
