Mindhunters plot

"For seven elite profilers, finding a serial killer is a process of elimination. Their own."

On a remote island, the FBI conducts training programs for "special unit" agents who are trained to track down serial killers. To optimally test the qualities of his seven trainees, Inspector Jake Harris drops his group on this island. Completely isolated from the outside world, the agents are confronted by a fictional serial killer whom they must track down using clues. It soon becomes apparent that it is not about fiction, but hard reality.

Saw this recently on AMC, the first time for me and I wasn't really impressed, but I was surprised by a scene in which I thought I recognized Anthonie Kamerling. The credits showed that many more Dutch people have worked on this film, but they too could not prevent this from becoming a 13 in a dozen film. The film has no more surprises after the intro, in which the entire intention of the film is already explained. It was just a matter of time to find out what the perpetrator's motive would be. Young boy, he felt misunderstood after the murder of his parents, so he applied to the FBI to cause a massacre. The acting performances are okay, no outliers, but decent and that means that this film gets another 3. But for all that Dutch input, a missed opportunity.

A decent And then there were none variant with some nice kills (Christian Slater's surprising death who is also quite brutal, Clifton Collins Jr.'s rear-firing pistol.[/ spoiler]) and a decent pace, although I found myself looking at my watch from about three quarters of the way through the movie. Just like in Harlin's Deep blue sea, LL Cool J has a nice role, but he might also stand out because some characters are barely distinguishable from each other and sometimes consist of only one or two defining character traits ( Patricia Velasquez [1] hangs out with Slater and [2]desperately needs a cigarette), but the film remains entertaining until the very end (or maybe I should say until the end, because the final fight is unfortunately very dramatic and stretched ).

Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Who's the next motherfucker to go?

I used to be more impressed by it, now it's just entertainment that doesn't require much thought.

Harlin knows how to shoot a cinematic beautiful picture, also certain action, the tension and the gruesome kills are well done, just like the whole 'profiler' thing with training programs. Still, the film is a bit over the top with its interchangeable and flat characters, the far-fetched plot, and that film comes closest to a stretched episode of a CSI series. The psychological thriller it once was and still pretends to see is no longer because of the simple thought that the murderer could at any moment make a statement or maybe something could happen to make everything fail. In addition, the way in which JD gets out of the pipe so quickly is colder. That stuff really isn't that cold, wouldn't be good.

Mindhunters is mostly funny, with an exciting and sinister edge, and fun for once.
