Meh.

Emphatically inimitable, almost indifferently plotless, with strange, poorly timed humor. Even without the visual flair of Punch Drunk Love, the mesmerizing camera work of Magnolia or a soundtrack that grabbed your attention with both; no, there's not much left for me. I've said goodbye to PTA as a favorite director. 2.5*

“If it's a quiet night out at the beach and your ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire- developer boyfriend, and his wife, and her boyfriend, and a plot to kidnap the billionaire and throw him in a loony bin...”

Great movie by PT Anderson. Usually he opts for dark and somewhat gloomy stories, but Inherent Vice is quirky, delirious and sometimes downright hilarious. Inherent Vice is a colorful cocktail in which Anderson lets the reins loose. The story is complicated and the film is long, but I still sat for two and a half hours with a smile on my face watching all the chaos. Phoenix, Waterston, Brolin, Wilson, Del Toro etc. They are all on a roll. And then there is also the wonderful 70s atmosphere and the beautiful music and cinematography.
