a film noir with mitchum as a gambler who has to stand in for a gangster who wants to return to the states illegally, he is lured with money but soon has second thoughts.

Jane Russell may serve as the love interest, it's a pity that her role remains somewhat limited, but she remains a sight to watch.

The story is a bit difficult to follow, especially in the beginning when so many characters are introduced, but in the end everything falls into place.

Price's role provides the comic relief, although I wonder why that was necessary, the humor was rather weak and did not really fit the film.

All in all an exciting noir, especially the last half hour.
