Der Unbestechliche plot

The good customs officer Harald (Christian Berkel) has been working flawlessly in the port of Hamburg for years. He is known as the 'incorruptible'. When it turns out that he has taken out a mortgage that is too high, he is still sensitive to small bribery attempts. A large importer Gerd (Walter Kreye) occasionally gives him gifts when he turns a blind eye. This remains quite innocent, until he starts a relationship with a woman associated with the firm. An inspector knocks on his door with compromising photos and blackmails him to continue his activities undercover, in order to give the authorities the opportunity to catch the big fish Gerd. Harald and his family find themselves trapped between the two sides.
