De Dominee plot
In the still fairly naive Netherlands of the hippie era in the 1970s, hardened criminals have taken care of the burgeoning hash trade. Klaas, son of an unfeeling but financially very successful businessman, decides to devote himself entirely to this easy money machine. He wants to be the biggest before the hash is legalized, which he says will only be a few years away. Above all, he wants to become richer than his hated father. Together with kick boxer Adri and his great love Annet, he manages to get a grip on the hash trade.

This was surprisingly good for a (yet another cliché) Dutch film. Of course the acting is only reasonable, but if you condone that (otherwise almost no NL film can be beaten) it is all very strong and expertly done. There are a lot of worse American movies. This is definitely one of the better homegrown films and the nice Amsterdam atmosphere certainly helps with that.
