Some friends from a sorority go in search of a stripper for their party. They end up in the wrong side of town, in the wrong bar; a strip club populated by vampires. At the head of the club is an erotic vampire dancer (Grace Jones).

Everyone always talks about Fright Night and The Lost Boys when it comes to vampire comedies from the eighties, but as far as I'm concerned, Vamp can easily join that list. Grace Jones is weird, but you are very glad you saw her striptease act. No matter how strange it may be.

More comical than scary.
A typical 80s horror comedy that you simply have to see at least once.
Grace Jones is terrifying even without vampire makeup, but with it, it's actually more funny than scary. The sleazy atmosphere in the club was a bit tame but fits the 80s horror-comedy genre. Grace's role is very limited, however, causing too much attention to go to the students. I found the white albino vampires very well done, though, and they deserved a bit more screen time.

A moderately weird film with a storyline that feels quite directionless, full of bizarre situations; this vampire movie never really gets truly scary. It does have atmosphere, though, and the use of color is done creatively.
The strip club is actually quite tame too; a few more daring scenes would have done the film good. The very first woman who gave a show looked pretty good, but after that it got progressively worse, with Grace Jones's act as the low point. As a vampire she is scary, but having her give a strip show was only artistically nice; however, Ms. Jones is not exactly the epitome of sexy beauty, to put it diplomatically.
