Tim Whelan, the tough editor of a big city newspaper, doesn't want his sister Connie Taylor, who is a columnist and reporter, to marry Jerry Martin. Jerry works for a competing newspaper. While executing his anti-marriage plan, Whelan concocts a fake murder of Grace Andrews. Jerry has most of his staff investigate this "murder" in hopes of preventing Connie and Jerry from getting together.
