"Something new under the Musical Sun!"
Nightclub singer Jeannie Laird (June Haver) has bought her first home and is throwing a party in her backyard. Soon, however, all guests are blinded by smoke from the neighbours. When Jeannie sets out to get a story, she meets her neighbor, cartoonist Bill Carter (Dan Dailey) and his ten-year-old son, Joe (Billy Gray), whom he has been raising alone since his wife's death. Bill's comics are about his daily life with his son. However, when Bill becomes more and more interested in neighbor Jeannie instead of him, Joe resorts to his last resort.
