Not very high expectations, but still quite fun. The review above of Metalfist pretty much sums up everything I think about it. John Goodman is indeed the perfect Fred. Perkins is a very beautiful Wilma, and Elizabeth Taylor was a very nice surprise for me too and MacLachlan was my favorite too. Wonderfully wrong role. And yes, Betty was a miscast despite the laughter, but that can't spoil the fun.

Because the film doesn't really take itself seriously, the actors are clearly looking forward to it, and just like in the cartoon series it revolves around the anachronisms where creative use of animals gives the Stone Age dweller the same luxury as we do. The tributes to that cartoon series are beautiful, such as the sound of Fred's toes while bowling.

Of course there are the lesser points, such as the friendship between Fred and Barney that seems to be falling apart. Very predictable and it also feels quite cliché. But also the CG which is clearly outdated. Anyway, cartoons often don't look truthful, especially not the series on which the film is based, and ultimately the feeling of fun that the film radiates predominates. 3*.

I give it a little more than I would score first because it is actually exactly what it should be...a live action cartoon. In that respect I can forgive the simple story. It is also nice to see how effort has been made to dress up the sets, this would be done a lot less authentic these days. Furthermore, you also have the good casting that provides a surprisingly amusing thing.

funny.

I admit that my own review is a bit counterintuitive, but movies like The Flintstones are kind of the things I missed in my childhood. Apparently stamped into the ground by most of the audience, I see it as a very creative and clumsy film.

Goodman rarely fails a part, he can only play boring roles. This film once again uses its comedic qualities. Reinforced with other members such as Moranis, it is no problem to squeeze a little more out of that as well. The jokes are not really very successful, but combined with the nice creatively constructed environment, that is rarely a problem.

Personally, I was especially impressed with the environments. Very creatively constructed settings and often equipped with some extras. Due to the silly tone as well as the never serious activities, the film continues to focus on entertainment with a smile. That smile is a bit too rare, but in terms of entertainment it is quite catchy. Those dinosaurs were clearly the things I needed in my childhood, but never got. I quite enjoyed it.
