This The Electric House is a film that came about in a special way. Buster Keaton had started it, broke his ankle and stopped filming. As a result, he decided to release The High Sign (which had not been released until then) and in the meantime he made The Playhouse. Once he started back on The Electric House, he threw away all the previous material and decided to start completely from scratch again. No idea what that early version looked like, but this final result may be there. A bit similar to The High Sign and The Haunted House in that it's a house with certain 'flaws', but it's times like these that Keaton is really at his best. That scene where he keeps walking on those stairs with he heavy suitcase.. It's such a lame joke but with good old stoneface it just works perfectly.

4*

From the time when there was no name on the diplomas...

Anyway, ... it provides us with a typical Keaton slapstick film with funny "electric inventions", a series of gags and the master himself, skilled in the stunts and with his inevitably serious to sad face as a business card.
