Jacob Cohen, a department store owner, and Patrick Kelly, an Irish agent, are constantly at odds with each other, arguing about anything and everything. Kelly's son, Tim, and Cohen's daughter, Nannie, fall in love despite their parents' bickering. When they can't get parental consent for their marriage, the two get married in secret.
