“You know how when you grab a woman's breast... it feels like... a bag of sand.”

“What?”

40 years and a virgin. That produces a lot of comic material and Steve Carell knows what to do with it. The success of this film rests entirely on Carell's shoulders, and the man is really on a roll. The other actors are doing their thing but none of Rudd, Rogen and Malco want to get really funny.

As a group they are on track and the chemistry is splashing. The film is too long and has a lot of cringe-inducing moments. I still don't understand why these kinds of movies can't just be a maximum of 100 minutes. The ending is the well-known happy ending, but it still produces a very funny music track.

Not exactly brilliant.

I haven't fully discovered Judd Apatow as a director yet. In any case, he likes to take the time for his films, since several comedies by this director have playing times such as 130 and 140 minutes. This film can actually be called quite short for its sake, but 116 minutes is nevertheless too long.

Furthermore, I had also expected beforehand that this comedy would approach its affairs a little more humanely compared to other (bland) comedies of this caliber. I was wrong about that, this movie is clearly American and this can be recognized by the exaggerated types walking around and the lame jokes that follow each other with terrible timing.

Carell can act great and has played amazing roles, this is one of his better known ones and I think that's a shame as this is clearly a lesser role of his. Annoying and loud, but Carell can do more and Apatow doesn't let him in this film. Because of this, he's the same loudmouth as a lot of other American comedy actors and that's not exactly funnier.

Other than that, the story has a nice pace and the film looks pretty good. The film has its light-hearted jokes, but also has its stiffer parts, which in turn are not funny at all. For example, the film constantly dangles from high to low level, but it is mainly the first half that is of a low level and the second half that is of a higher level.

As soon as the film needs to be a bit more human, it immediately gets better as a whole and you can empathize with the film, it is a shame that the film tries so hard to remain a bland comedy, so that the better, more sentimental parts are immediately invisible . It stays smooth at all times, but the film is constantly stuck in moderation, which it thinks is great, but is mainly annoying. A fairly meaningless film that does have a purpose but hardly dares to run after it.

Very nice comedy! He looked wonderfully away. Steve Carell as in the role of 'Andy Stitzer' played very well. The rest of the cast also performed excellently. The unrated version offered enough nudity. It was also wonderful to see that the theme of sex was so exaggerated. All in all, a very funny, light-hearted film.

4/5
