Lucy Sziráky is a talented and successful actress. Unfortunately, the secret police find out that she was once married to a count and, as an enemy of the state, they send her to a rural village to be re-educated. The other aristocrats stationed there do not welcome her and it takes a while for Lucy to be accepted by the community.
