Straight Place and Show plot
Barbara Drake arrives two hours late to a country club party celebrating her engagement to famous equestrian Denny Paine because she was riding in a van with her beloved horse, Playboy. Denny complains that her whole life revolves around the horse, and they have a falling out. When the Ritz Brothers hear Braddock, an influential equestrian, betting on a horse named Yankee, they rush to the track but mistakenly place a bet on Playboy, instead of Yankee. Playboy wins, and the brothers make over $3,000. After buying a convertible, the brothers hear that Playboy will be running again, so they call their bookie and place a $500 bet on him. Meanwhile, Denny demands that Barbara either give up Playboy or give him up, then challenges her to a bet. If Playboy doesn't win a race in the next three months, she must give him the horse and agree to marry him.
