Still Crazy plot

"They were "Strange Fruit". Some called them the greatest rock band of the '70s. They haven't played together for 20 years. No wonder they're worried about their performance."

After more than twenty years, a former legendary rock band reunites for a reunion tour. The members have lost touch with each other over the years and lead an everyday and anonymous life. At the hands of the former manager Karen, who still dreams of the star guitarist who disappeared at the time, the instruments are taken out again...

Take Spinal Tap, get rid of the documentary style and the slightly too obvious parody appearance and you come close to a film like Still Crazy. Well, the film is ultimately not that hilarious, but it also shows in a wonderful way what it takes to rock at age and what can go wrong on a tour. No mini-Stone Hengen, no exploding drummers and certainly no jazz oddssey, but a lot of drooling, fine acting and above all fine music. Very interesting to see how half of the film takes place in the Netherlands. This time no American actors trying to speak German, but just Dutch concertgoers who enjoy talking in their own language as if it's all happening around them.

It's hard to name a favorite actor from this movie, because everyone puts in a fine acting performance. I don't know if they also play the instruments themselves, but it certainly looked professional as if the actors had at least made an effort to come across as if it was really being played. Fine music too, somewhat outdated now, but a power ballad like 'The Flame Still Burns' remains beautiful.

Pleasant surprise, nowhere exceptionally funny, but oh so well made and written!

Nice film in which the members of a rock band from the 1970s come together again after 20 years to perform. The relationships between the band members are well developed. The fine cast also helps with this. Entertaining, but it could have all had a bit more pit / sharpness. Nice to see that a large part was shot in the Netherlands.

Why is it such a fascinating topic? A band that reunites years later after a great success. The Blues Brothers, The Leningrad cowboys, Spinal tap, Bad news. One a little more fun than the other, but none of them are really great films. You can't do much with it either. A band getting back together. So they will perform. There is always some conflict between the band members and more of that kind of predictability. Well, here's another movie. Certainly not bad either. But it also doesn't add much to what's already there.
