Annoying movie that makes no sense. Normally I can charm myself with such films, but this one really tried to be funny, so that the so-called jokes almost all fell into the water.

Due to the mediocre acting, all spontaneity was taken out of the scenes, especially Mena Suvari was completely out of place and acted as if it were a theater piece. Only Mickey Rourke gave it a nice twist.

The story (although subordinate to the rest in itself) was about nothing, the humor was hard to find (too bland, too simple), the acting was not good, the cartoon bits and accelerated bits did not fit into the film at all and made all one big gimmick.

Then I prefer the dramatized and surreal of Trainspotting, although you can't really compare this film there anymore, that would be a gross insult.

For the few times the film still showed something good, 2 stars.

A strange dose of striking characters that you should not take too seriously. The flashy montage combined with recurring animations will keep you engaged in a racetrack while the cocaine will keep you tight enough to forget all your worries and feel like a boss. Rourke is a suitable candidate to play the role of Cook and his wife is a special type with all her intense emotions. There are mainly situations that are not immediately necessary, but which in a certain sense you do not encounter every day. But because it remains so nonchalant with no deep meaning I couldn't always understand the choice of music, this was a bit too siren and dramatic at times and probably she wanted to create some kind of familiar bond with the viewer with Ross's relationship to make a little more impression. can do with all events. Yet this is not a tragic addiction, rather a successful holiday with some obstacles.

Ah.

As a director I'm cautiously getting to know Åkerlund better and better and his films are almost always things that normally interest me but just don't get there. He always does something with his films that sets it apart from similar competitors, and Spun is no different in that regard. My rating speaks volumes.

Åkerlund seemed to be inspired by Aronofsky which makes this movie especially busy and ADHD. You are immediately thrown into the story, and through constantly accelerating editing we are not really let go. Still, it mostly came across as blowing up a movie that doesn't have much interesting to say at all. Aronofsky, for example, did much better a year ago.

The characters themselves are mainly the elements that drag the film backwards, because they are actually too goofy to keep up with the intense pace of the film. Also, the movie is just plain ugly. A lot is done from the direction of the film to bring it up a bit, but the setting itself remains ugly and boring. All that fuss doesn't help much anymore.

I can still appreciate Åkerlund's creativity in terms of content and the extremely fast pace. The actors do a decent job and are all crazy in their own way, but I just couldn't get past the movie anyway. A film that mainly seems to bump into itself, but oh well. Maybe one day I'll see an Åkerlund that really appeals to me.
