"With spies like these who needs enemies?"
Emmett Fitz-Hume and Austin Millbarge are two CIA spies who have never actually completed a mission. They sit at their desks in Washington DC fantasizing about what it would be like to go on a spy mission. To their own surprise, they are selected to save the world from a nuclear disaster. Working together will not be easy because the gentlemen don't like each other very much. To complete their mission, they must penetrate the Soviet Union via Afganistan. Of course they are chased by Russian soldiers throughout their journey. After getting through the eye of the needle several times, they come to the conclusion that they have been used by the CIA to divert the attention of the real spies.

Mediocre film in which two spies are used as a distraction for a mission abroad. The story starts off well, but then it slows down a bit. There is certainly something to laugh about here and there. Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd could have been more into it. Quite a few cameos from famous directors (as is often the case in a John Landis film). Just not 3.0 stars.

Cold War comedy, but above all very bland. Underpants fun was still possible then, apparently. The number of mildly funny scenes can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Despite the mediocre level, it's not that annoying that I wanted to turn it off, but it was a bit of wasted time.
