Soof plot

Soof is approaching 40 and has everything she ever wanted: 3 lovely children, a small catering company, a lovely husband Kasper and a lovely house. Until one day she wonders: "Is this all there is?" The catering company doesn't really want to get off the ground, her three children consume all her time and she can't really count on Kasper, who mainly spends his time in his own work. When Soof bumps into choreographer Jim during a dinner party, there is an immediate click. Just someone who sees her for who she is, doesn't immediately wonder who takes the kids to hockey and who makes her feel special. When the relationship between Soof and Jim unintentionally threatens to get out of hand and the conversion of Soof's garden house into a professional kitchen takes its toll, the question slowly arises whether Kasper is still that wildly attractive man that Soof once fell for. And the more she tries to get a grip on her life, the more it seems to derail.

Soof is a fun, somewhat unusual film that is very recognizable in a subtle way - and that's what makes it fun. If you don't recognize anything, you will like it less.

My other half also has his own business that sometimes gets snowed under, and when I help her, I pull everything to myself and I'm super stubborn. Little things like that make it fun to watch in your thirties.

But there are plenty of people who can't identify with this bunch and is there enough content for them? Meh. The film doesn't really know where it wants to go with the story for a long time. The can of celebrities in supporting roles brightens it up, but no more than that. Still, it's not all bad. It's not a movie full of thigh-slapping and fat-ass jokes. It's subtle, quasi-realistic and that's something.

This movie was truly a horror.

She's grumpy or drunk for a whole movie. Snarls children, mother and husband on and on. While there really is nothing in her life that gives a reason to react like that.

The music shows that she is sympathetic, or that she is having a hard time... But with what? The very rich and extremely tasty American? The company that's going so well it's almost unbelievable, or her husband trying his best for two hours.

Really, very frustrating!

I saw a message that the 'third part of the Dutch Bridget Jones' will be released soon. uh, who? Oh Soof. And immediately the same afternoon, Netflix also starts talking about it. Nice, that AI. Not really a match with what I normally like to watch, but I like to keep an open mind.

And that even lasted about ten minutes, after that it started to feel a bit like a sloppy TV production, an episode of a series of which I just leave the rest. Bad plot, way too many celebrities who have nothing to do with the story, supporting roles that don't work, Van Huêt who irritates after a minute, and then those spoiled children.

Nice try, but didn't work.
