Kay Brannan is bored to death in a town where there is never anything to do. One evening Bob Dakin, a rich but at the time very drunk young man, asks her for directions. He then takes her out for a night out, climaxing with his questioning whether she wants to marry him. Kay doesn't have to think twice about that. The next morning, Bob regrets his rash act. However, his parents think he should stay with Kay for at least half a year to keep up appearances. Bob resents Kay for getting between him and his fiancée Priscilla…
