"It's hard raising parents."

The story is set in a small town in the heart of the country. Sam has returned home to care for his father Bill and his ailing health. While at home, Sam falls in love with a local woman, Kate. At the same time, Bill begins to fall for her mother, Tina. The road to true love is never smooth, and these four are forced to face their past as they try to grow a new love in their lives.

A father and son meet a mother and her daughter, and something beautiful arises. And that is played by Dustin Hoffman and his son Jake, and Sissy Spacek and her daughter Schuyler Fisk, and it makes for an incredibly beautiful film.

The story is apparently simple, but it works well - the characters are extremely strong, recognizable and empathetic. The family relationship is completely right - the familiarity just shines through. And whether son and daughter got their talent through nature or nurture, the apple clearly does not fall far from the tree - it is not exactly the case that the younger generation is outplaying the old guard, but the other way around certainly does not apply either.

And a nice ending too - Fisk also has a beautiful singing voice. I just assume that she sings that song herself, and why not - it suits her and her role. Sweet.
