“Lets get ready to dance... with swords!”

Decent film with some strong moments. Rudd and Mintz-Plasse can be pretty fun, but here they are unbelievably dull as a duo. Scott and young Thompson are a lot more fun and I would have liked to see some more scenes about their adventures. That boring knight game only gets fun at the end. Banks has a small and somewhat thankless role. Role Models certainly has its fun moments, but focuses on the wrong characters.

Quite funny.

Didn't expect much from it with Scott and Rudd, but luckily it turned out differently. Lots of familiar faces in this movie, most of them still very young. Even small roles for Jorma Taccone and Louis CK.

Miraculously, Scott and Rudd complement each other well. Rudd also in a slightly sharper role than I'm used to from him. I prefer to see him that way, without that sharp edge I usually find him a bit annoying. Their coupled children are also both nice.

As with most American comedies, the last half hour is a bit more corny and you have to bite your lip just as hard during the end, because that is in stark contrast to the beginning of the film. The LAIRE event ensures a slightly smoother transition, but cannot prevent everyone from getting their good moment.

But all in all a nice movie. Regularly funny, actors who feel like it and a good mood.

Friendly.

Movies like Role Models entertain very well, but will probably never really get the status of a thigh-beater. That has everything to do with the opinion that the film is simply not brilliantly funny. Still, I have to say that the film continues to be easy to watch from minute 1.

Scott and Rudd make a nice duo together, but apart from each other they are not brilliant. I've actually always seen Scott reach his peak as Doug Glatt, the rest of his characters are always a bit half. This one also belongs to that. Rudd is sometimes a bit annoying, although that must be his character and not himself. Still, it took me a lot of effort here and there to be normal towards his character.

The constant strange situations ensure that the film never gets boring, but that doesn't mean that it takes too long before we get to the core and the moral in between doesn't really give the film a deeper layer. Comedies like this don't need a lot of words in a review, but they were quite entertaining. It just didn't come to real laughter.
