"We all want someone to call us over."
33-year-old Toronto geologist Damon Pierce has decided to apply for one of four spots on Red Rover, a one-way mission to Mars. While the purpose of the mission is not well defined in what the four will actually do on Mars, the centerpiece will be a reality TV show, and the TV network is the de facto sponsor of the mission. Despite the fact that as a geologist he will likely be an asset to the mission in whatever is asked of them, Damon simply wants to start his life over, convinced that he has nothing on Earth to live for.
