"There are no losers in the game of life"
As a child, Tamiko excelled in ping pong thanks to her mother Hanako's rigorous training. Now, at the age of twenty-eight, she has left the sport behind after Hanako's death. After a failed romance with a co-worker named Akihiko, she decides to quit her job and return to her hometown, where her mother once ran a ping-pong club. At the same time, she discovers that the man she lost is now a member of the company ping pong club, which motivates her to train again in hopes of beating him.
