Maskerade plot
Vienna 1905: After a party, the famous painter Heidenick paints his betrothed friend Anita Helfer with hardly any clothes on, but makes her face unrecognizable. The image ends up in the newspaper the next day and Heidenick invents the fictitious name Leopoldine Dur for the woman depicted, since of course he cannot say who it is. Unfortunately, however, it turns out that there is a secretary with exactly that name.
