"A truth too frightening to ignore"

Alicia, a history teacher, lives a comfortable life in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires. Alicia's husband, a lawyer with close ties to the military, grows increasingly nervous after the fall of the military regime in 1983. Alicia begins to suspect that the daughter she adopted, now a five-year-old girl, may have been born in prison. and given to her husband by officers as a 'gift'. That knowledge is not appreciated by her environment and leads to a conflict of conscience within herself.
