Anna Feodorovna Belova lives in a small, dusty village. She has been widowed twice and now lives with her brother Mikhail. Every now and then their two other brothers, Vasily and Sergei, come to visit them. They then come, drink a lot of tea and vodka, steam in a Russian bath and discuss, among other things, life and whether there is a standard by which to measure trials. Furthermore, some cattle are grazing, a dog is walking around and the potatoes have to be cleared. Nothing happens at all, and at the same time a lot in this portrait of the daily life of this family, which provides a clear insight into the relationships between people and their environment.
