Less absurd than what we are sometimes used to from Dupieux. Yet he succeeds again in mixing fiction and reality. As a viewer you gradually no longer know what is not acted or real. In this way the whole remains fascinating.

For some perhaps a bit too much chatter and sometimes it is. These are actors who have previously been in a Dupieux. Finely attuned acting. And let's be honest, a Léa Seydoux is always heavenly to watch.

Not Dupieux's best film, but for fans still wonderfully idiosyncratic and special.

Excellent film in which a woman wants to introduce her new boyfriend to her father. A less absurd, yet original film by Quentin Dupieux (and in my opinion his best). Nicely meta, with the actors increasinglystepping in and out of their characters. The film gradually becomes funnier and contains some excellent dialogues. Nice final shot too.

David [Louis Garrel] has an appointment in the restaurant 'Le Deuxième Acte' with Florence [Léa Seydoux] who wants to introduce him to her father Guillaume [Vincent Lindon]. However, David does not feel attracted to Florence at all and therefore brings his good friend Willy [Raphaël Quenard] along. Maybe he can start something with Florence. The film starts with two very long tracking shots (the required dolly track shows Dupieux during the credits in which both couples prepare for the meeting). It is a somewhat banal story. The actors know that and show it in this dialogue-based, but intelligent, entertaining and often very funny satire that is best seen with as little background information as possible.
