Le Blanc et le Noir plot
While on vacation in the mountains, child-hater Marcel leaves his wife Marguerite alone in their hotel room to frolic with the local young girls. Feeling neglected, Marguerite accepts the invitation of her neighbor, a celebrated tenor, to stop by for an overnight rendezvous. She steps into the tenor's darkroom and has a passionate night with the man she thought was the host. Nine months later, however, it appears that she has spent that night with the tenor's erratic servant as she gives birth to a black child. The agitated Marcel rushes to put things right and, while doing so, finds out that he actually likes children quite a bit and that he also wants a kid himself, all this much to Marguerite's fatigue.
