L'Examen de Minuit plot

When the high-spirited Serena makes her way to a sleepy village in the Drôme, soon nothing is what it should have been. The wedding-hungry count whose personal ad she had responded to can whistle for the wedding. The inveterate single farmhand with whom she does get into the boat and who even goes down the criminal path for her, sees the wedding night go up in smoke. The writer in whose arms she ends up and who hopes to keep her as a caged muse must fear for his marriage. Complications arise when the betrayed wife goes in search of the robbed groom and is taken hostage to take him to his Serena.
