"As a student in America, he searched for ancient wisdom. As a teacher in China, he learned to find it within himself."

Iron & Silk is about how the teacher Mark (Mark Salzman) will integrate into Chinese society. He learns to speak Chinese fluently from teacher Hei (JeanetteLin Tsui) and kung fu from master Quingfu Pan (who plays himself). He started a relationship with doctor Ming (Vivian Wu), but then became trapped between official cultural politics and individual freedom.
