Flirting plot
"Here's to risks."
Danny is sent to a boarding school. While he is being bullied and quarrels with the sadistic teachers, he has an affair with a girl from a nearby school. Their relationship continues to grow as everyone tries to break it.

Beautiful film, in which the strict boarding school regime contrasts strongly with the blossoming love of two young people. Excellent acting by Thandie Newton and supporting roles for Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts.

Reasonable film in which a boarding school for boys and a school for girls are opposite each other. The film is set in 1965 and has a fairly simple story, but the love between the boy and the girl is beautifully portrayed. A bit slow, but never flat. A young cast of which four would later find good work in Hollywood.

Nicole Kidman marathon 4#
Also seen this movie before, but could not remember much. No idea where and how, because it is hard to get. I saw that it could be watched on Youtube so I did that. Unfortunately without NL subtitles, but because I had seen the movie before that did not matter that much. Although there was often unclear and mumbling speech so that I did not catch everything.
Nicole Kidman actually only has a supporting role, but there are plenty of other familiar names in the film: Noah Taylor (with whom she also starred in Bangkok Hilton), Naomi Watts (who I don't think I recognized when I first watched it) and Thandiwe Newton (a very pretty lady). I think Kidman also wore a wig in this film, but otherwise she actually looked too old for this film.
Furthermore a nice movie to see once, I like these kind of boarding school like movies although the premise often remains the same and there is nothing new under the sun. The ending is also quite abrupt.
Rating remains at 3.5*.
