Impromptu plot
"He's about to fall in love with the most scandalous woman of his time."
When Sand Chopin heard music, she knew immediately: she had to have that man. For him, she was even willing to give up smoking (cigars) and change into something feminine (she usually wore men's clothes). Chopin didn't know what to do with her at first, but like many other men he couldn't and didn't want to be around her. In a contemporary idiom, Lapine tells about the 'wealth and woe' of two souls that are, in retrospect, hardly related: from their acquaintance at the castle of Countess d'Antan (Emma Thompson) to the misery of a joint stay on Mallorca.
