How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog plot
Shy, chain-smoking and insomniac Peter McGowan is an LA stage director with quite a few successes to his name. Unfortunately, he hasn't had any success in the last ten years. His mother-in-law is slowly going senile, some stranger claims he's McGowan and the neighbors have a new dog that barks all night. His wife wants a child; not him. McGowan is working on a new play when a single mother moves into the house next door with her eight-year-old daughter. His wife immediately invites the child for a visit. Will she arouse his paternal feelings? Will she also lead the piece in the right direction? And what about that doppelgänger and that horrible dog?
