Charlie is a once famous writer who suffers from writer's block. With his book advance, Charlie's best friend and agent, Bernie, sends him aspiring writer Dawn as an assistant, hoping she'll inspire him to write. Initially, the two are polar opposites. Dawn sees Charlie as privileged and spoiled and Charlie sees Dawn as belligerent and meddling. As they get to know each other better, Charlie and Dawn help each other discover the essential truths in their lives that they both try to avoid.
