Older TV star Walter Campbell's plans to break up with his younger girlfriend Lucy are thwarted by the announcement of her pregnancy. Walter seeks distraction and decides to visit his estranged daughter Nic, who is currently residing in Big Sur. He agrees to give a ride to Nic's friend Kim, who recently attended her mother's funeral. Upon arrival in Big Sur, Walter discovers that Nic lives in a lesbian community and is soon to be married.
