Dusty and Me plot
Derek Springfield is an 18-year-old misfit who grew up in a poor area of Leeds. He is a smart boy, who becomes estranged from his family, which is a real working family. While waiting to be accepted at university, he kills his time by walking a greyhound. As his bond with the animal grows, he notices that the dog is getting faster and faster. So fast that the animal is kidnapped because of his racing qualities. The dog manages to escape and finds its way back to Derek. Together with his girlfriend Chrissie, they patch him up and let him participate in official competitions. But as the greyhound's fame grows, it becomes difficult to stay out of sight of the captors who are still out to get him.
