Good film in which an overweight girl decides to participate in the local beauty pageant as a protest. The proceedings may be a bit predictable, but the film is easy to watch. An excellent coming-of-age story that simply has the right tone and a great cast.

Faintly.

A light-hearted drama, one about body issues for teenage girls. The contrast with the pageant world is just a bit too easy, so I had the feeling that I had seen this film before. And then a film must be able to offer something more.

That just wasn't really possible. I thought the cast was very mediocre, I am absolutely not a Dolly Parton fan and the humor is too well-behaved and neat. It is therefore more of a film that is full of positive messages and seems to serve to encourage people.

Few further surprises, the course is actually set in stone from the start. An uplifting ending, some drama in between and a lot of learning moments. And all this at a very leisurely pace, without daring to be snide, despite the fact that everyone is talking about revolutions.

Meh, despite the beautiful message, the film has little impact given the predictable, unbelievable progression and the overemphasized LGBT feeling. Towards the end the film gets bogged down and it all goes on a bit too long. 5/10
