Margit is in complete control of her sister Irene's life, including her choice of mate and their upcoming marriage. Irene decides to rebel against her sister's will and tells Irene that she is in love with the bohemian Charlie Lodge, who plays the game. Determined to expose Charlie as a charlatan, Margit agrees to pose for a painting to save time collecting evidence. However, strict Margit slowly begins to fall for Charlie's free-thinking.
