Do Your Duty plot

Just before a robbery, Sergeant Tim Maloney, one of New York's top cops, is knocked unconscious by the Dalton gang. Then they pour a bottle of whiskey over him. Still dizzy, Tim regains consciousness and takes to the streets again. But Tim is suspected of being drunk while on duty and demoted. Tim's daughter Mary Ellen plans to marry police officer Dan Sheehan Jr. at the police station, but Tim is too embarrassed to attend.
